Emnet

Tim Braun is the Senior Vice President and Enterprise Architect for Emnet. Emnet was formed in 2004 in partnership with the City of South Bend and the University of Notre Dame, for the specific purpose of solving South Bend’s combined sewer overflow problem using advanced control systems theory and civil engineering. Their comprehensive real-time decision support system has reduced South Bend’s overflow volume by 70%, or over one billion gallons per year, for less than one-tenth of the original budget. Emnet is helping cities across the country achieve similar gains.

Xylem purchased Emnet in 2018 and their story was recently highlighted in the United Nations Global Compact-Accenture Strategy 2019 CEO study, The Decade to Deliver: A Call to Business Action, as a top example of 4th Industrial Revolution technologies advancing the sustainable development goals. Xylem is a leading water technology company committed to “solving water” by creating innovative and smart technology solutions to meet the world’s water, wastewater and energy needs.

Tim received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Bluffton University and his MBA in Sustainable Business from Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco in 2009. After a career in sustainable investment management, Tim became a cleantech entrepreneur and venture capitalist, focusing on water and renewable energy technologies. Tim joined Emnet in 2013 to expand the company’s reach and impact by building partnerships with municipal utilities and their consultants. Tim leads the company’s strategic vision for growth and client relationship development.
